Modell.


Basic Channel were always the dub technicians that were my go to guys. They have produced some of the best dub techno ever in my opinion. Unfortunately they seem to have gone very quiet in terms of output.

It seems to me now the Rod Modell has nipped up and pinched their crown.

His Deepchord albums and mixes are some of the very best out there now. As ever the backlash has started regarding minimal techno but the goodies are out still there to be discovered.

Admittedly he hasn't pushed the genre too aggressively but if it isn't broken…

His new album  'Sommer' on Soma records is a grower. I would say that 'Aquatic' is up there with the best of his stuff. Long, ambient passages with percussive shimmers and whisper-y sounds.
