'Moonrise Kingdom' Blu Ray. Finally arrived then.
Thanks Amazon - clearly sponsored by 'Stone Roses - The Second Coming' postal services.
Worth the wait?
Absolutely.
A chirpy gem of a film.
I have recently made a policy of trying to steer well clear of reading any critical nonsense or such like. I know what I like and Wes Anderson's films (NOT Movies) are some of my all time favourites.
I'm not going to write too much. I loved the film. I will watch it again. And again. There is so much going on to look at and savour. Rich colours. Detailed sets. Great, witty script. Bill Murray. All done in that ace Wes Anderson style.
Regarding this 'style' thing; It took me a long time time to understand what a director actually does. Still not 100% sure actually. I always thought that it was just the actors who did their stuff. Read what was on the page and just did a bit of posh pretending. The director type just says "stand over there and look poignantly into my camera".
In this case Mr Anderson's films are instantly recognisable. I see what he has done there. This is a good thing. A great thing even. They Make me smile. They feel comfortable and warm. He is on a long winning streak in my humble opinion.
Richard D and I often have that classic conversation - name your top 3 WA films. Moonrise Kingdom will just make this a more tricky but enjoyable way to pass the days.
A litmus test for me is if I want to own a film when I come stumbling come out of the cinema (or however I first see it). This was a Prycer priority 1 without even seeing it. Thank goodness I was not disappointed.
Got it straight on the wish list son.
Give it a go if you haven't already.
A joyful nugget of enjoyment.
Thanks to Pia for display assistance - nothing like Debbie Mcgee.
I wholeheartedly agree. A great film and another one to juggle into my top ten. Not sure where it stands on the 'Top Three WA films' at the moment, but I'm sure we'll have that conversation soon.
ReplyDeleteI still think '...Tenenbaums' takes it for me. Closely followed by 'Rushmore'. This will change week to week though.
ReplyDeleteWe watched this "http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1100048/" recently. I quite liked it. So did Annie. In fact it passed the Annie (insert any woman here I guess) Test as she stayed awake throughout the whole film. 35 Shots of Rum.
