The Walkmen
Live in concert
Birmingham
27th October 2012
We moseyed on up to Birmingham looking forward to another performance by a favourite band on top of their game.
We weren't disappointed.
A really enjoyable evening.
The Walkmen now have a formidable catalogue of music to draw upon.
Tonight the set list ticked all the boxes for me.
Admittedly a shaky start but every time I have seen them they look like they could fall part within the first 5 minutes. They soon got focussed up and got the whole room moving. That drummer....well...
At one point I found myself singing along. This is most unusual for me. Most of my pals will tell you that I have a voice that can give an aspirin a headache.
No matter.
Rock and roll eh?
One thing to mention is I think I only counted 3 mobile phones being held aloft and only for short intervals during the entire evening.
Excellent.
People actually enjoying the band.
Highlights - 'Heaven', 'Juveniles, 'The Rat' and ''All Hands And The Cook'; the latter takes on a new life of it's own live. Powerful stuff indeed.
Bonus ball: Met up with James and his new bride. Good to see you both. Sorry to hear the walk back to the hotel was a stinker.
A top evening.
Come back soon gentlemen.
