During my days off I like to sit with an espresso and watch episodes of 'American Pickers" and "American restoration". I absolutely love the ways these chaps (and Danielle) see worth in old items and nick nacks. Compulsive and compelling viewing.
I have now been considering some form of mechanical restoration project but what? Bikes? Watches? Toys?
I tried once to restore a Space 1999 1970s Eagle Transporter. I started to strip the paint with some super strength potion that i got from the model shop over the road.
I succeeded in discolouring all my fingernails, getting a beast of a headache and nearly suffocating Parsley (my beaker-like, unwilling assistant) on the fumes in my garage.
I eventually gave the model to Pia's brother who made a much better job of it than me.
Thanks Jeremy.
Anyway my mum has just given me the family Goblin teasmade (Let's leave the goblin jokes shall we.) It always sat next to her bed wherever we lived. (teas made not a goblin….again leave it) I have such happy childhood memories when I look at it today. However Pia and my mum share the same fear of economy 7 electricity and so I doubt if it was ever used.
Drum roll….
I am going to clean this awesomely plastic nugget up to uber showroom condition. It will be my life's work. My Empire State. My Great wall.
I may just give it a polish with some Mr Sheen and put on top of a nice firm shelf.
But I will however show you these (before) pictures.
I will then do the after pictures when I am finished with it.
Stay tuned.
(Thanks ma - in a Nick Cotton voice)
'Automatic Tea Making outfit' - now there's a band name for our new record label.
Vintage! I like it...
